Goshen City Dedza Dynamos have said they engaged former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Peter Mponda as a consultant; hence, his presence at the team’s recent match.
The Flames legend was spotted in the company of Dynamos technical adviser Kinnah Phiri and the club’s sponsor Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s spokesperson Aubrey Kusakala during Sunday’s Castel Challenge Cup Round of 32 match against Creck Sporting Club at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in Mchinji, fuelling speculation that it could be his next destination.

But in an interview yesterday, Kusakala said Mponda had a specific consultancy task.
He said: “As you might be aware, we struggled in the TNM Super League this season and we were nearly relegated.
“So, being one of the top coaches on the local scene, we asked him to identify areas that need strengthening and if possible, he could suggest names of players that could consider signing.”
Kusakala said there were no discussions on the prospects of taking the Flames assistant coach on board.
“Should there be any development beyond that, then we will issue a statement,” he said.
Mponda also confirmed in a separate interview that he was engaged for that particular task.
He said: “Of course, being someone who is now jobless, I knew that my presence there would create speculations, but as I said, there was nothing beyond that.
“Ndine lova pano. I am just taking a rest for now, then will see if I can make a breakthrough elsewhere.”
Mponda was fired as Bullets coach last month, just a day after the team’s TNM Super League title bid was brought to a halt by Mighty Tigers, who held them to a goalless draw.
Under his tutelage, Bullets won the Airtel Top 8 and finished as runners-up in the league behind their arch-rivals Mighty Wanderers, who won the title with a game to spare.
Last season, Mponda guided Silver Strikers to end an 11-year league title drought.
South Africa-based former Flames coach Ernest Mtawali is the other coach strongly linked with Dynamos.
